Ventilation Specialist Boosts Turnover and Branch Network

Contract Components Ltd (CCL) and ABB today announced that CCL has agreed in principle to buy ABB Veloduct's UK business and to enter a strategic alliance with ABB to distribute a range of ventilation products in the UK. ABB will receive a seat on the Board and a minority share of the enlarged company, which will be renamed CCL Veloduct Ltd.

CCL's David Barker and Geoff Lee will continue as joint Managing Directors of the newly structred company.

ABB Veloduct in the UK manufacturers and supplies ducting and fittings for commercial and industrial ventilation and air conditioning systems. The acquisition will double available manufacturing capacity to over 100,000 sq. ft. This will enable CCL Veloduct to fabricate both standard and special ventilation products on very short lead times in a variet of materials. It will also provide customers with easy access to the aBB ventilation product portfolio of air valves, iris dampers, fire dampers, sound absorbers, sealed duct systems and a range of other distribution products.

Geoff Lee, Joint Managing Director of CCL Veloduct Ltd said "The Veloduct merger and alliance fits in with our expansion strategy. CCL Veloduct Ltd will retain two of the former ABB facilities - a distribution branch outlet at Bradford in West Yorkshire and a manufacturing plant at Toddington, Gloucestershire, which produces spiral tube and fittings. The addition of ABB VEloduct sales to our own will bring turnover up to £24 million - increasing our lead as the UK's number one supplier of spiral tube, fittings and flexible ducting. Taking over the branch at Bradford gives us the foothold in West Yorkshire we have long sought, and brings our total national network up to 16 branches including the recently opened unit in Croydon".

CCL and Veloduct product ranges will remain unchanged and continuity of supply is ensured for all customers. It is anticipated that the coming months will see the launch of new products for the ventilatin and air conditioning industry as a result of closer co-operation with ABB.
